How To: Plan Ahead For Shopping
What's the best way to save money? By far the best way to get the maximum savings is to match ads to coupons. I find the easiest way to do that is to visit the fourmn website www.weusecoupons.com, and find my local ad. Luckily, a poster tends to post my shaw's ad tuesday mornings so i have plenty of time to get my things put together.
Another great way to save those pennies to keep a price book. A price book helps you get a guesstimate amount before you hit the check out, so you don't get those nasty little surprises. Everyone should keep one I think. How's the best way to come about this? Keep your reciepts and document the prices of things as you buy them. :) This way you will know for sure the price of the items you buy most often.
I also have found another website lately. www.grocery.walmart.com is very helpful. This website gives a fairly accurate cost of items at walmart! This is excellent! I was so surprised to find out just helpful this site it. I also use this with 10% added to get a good estimate for the cost of items at other stores. I tend to get pretty close.
Every penny you save is a penny you can put forward towards other items! So don't give up! Even if your just getting started, I know this can be hard to figure out but it's worth it in the end!

The Most Common Coupon Mistakes
Everyone makes mistakes right? So I've decided to make this guide so less mistakes will happen, when your couponing! Helpful right?
I've fallen to this mistake few times, and I'm sure others have too. Looking t the picture on the coupon and not the print! What should you look out for?
- Look for small print specifying size most commonly found are " excluding Trial sizes" or a specific oz. the product should be.
- Look for specific products indicated by flavor/color/quantity i.e. Cherry flavored, or 5 count box
- Limited quantities like coupons that limit how many you can use per customer. These are mostly found on store coupons. Don't make several transactions and use a lot of these coupons.
- When you have a BOGO coupon with a $/1 coupon this makes some nice prices!
- When you have a coupon for 2 or more and a coupon for $/1
- My absolute favorite is when you can stack a store coupon with a manufacturer's coupon. A store coupon generally has the store logo on it and says " store coupon" at the top. Doing this is even better when there is a sale on those items!
$1/1 Kraft Deli Deluxe Coupon

The Rebirth Of Couponing
Did you know that the first coupon was put out for Coca Cola in 1887? Isn't that ironic, when it's hard to find Coke coupons now a days?! Coupons didn't appear again for another 12 years after that! This time for Grapenuts!
A lot of people think of older women "grandmas" so to speak clipping those coupons. But let me tell you couponers are absolutely every where! There are people saving for college*, people saving for vacations**, and who knows how many mommies*** trying to save a buck on those pricey diapers! Even a few men in the bunch****! :) Couponing is evolving!
Evolution is always a good thing right? That's not always true. We've all seen the show Extreme Couponing. I for one have nothing against anyone trying to save money, but there are things I see repeatedly that I completely disagree with! Who needs 40 mustards? No one! Especially if you're completely clearing the shelf to get that many! The best rule in my eyes to use if you are stockpiling and have several coupons is to do the 50/50 rule. If there are twenty on the shelf then buy ten, or call your store and see i they can preorder your items for you. I definitely recommend this if you're buying over ten items! There has also been accusations of people altering barcodes, and scanning coupons!! This is fraud! There are also fraudulent coupons***** out there so keep an eye out for those!
What does that mean or us good couponers only looking to save a few bucks? Everything is changing! Coupon policies are changing, like the recent Riteaid change. So don't forget to be smart, and be ethical! Show the world we aren't all bad apples!
Don't forget to click the links through out this post for blogs, and helpful tips!

How To: Start Stockpiling, Correctly!
I'm sure by now you've all seen at least one episode of Extreme Couponing. Right? You've seen all the wonderful stockpiles those couponers have accumulated over time. Well I just started with the stockpiling thing. I'm gonna give you some tips and things that I wish I would have thought of earlier. First thing that's important is you need to budget in a set amount every week to spend on building your stockpile. My general budget for this is around $10.
Best ways to Stockpile:
- Buy what you will use. If you've never tried a product even if it is an amazing deal don't buy oodles of it until you've tried it and know you/your family like it. Or you'll end up with a bunch of food nobody will eat!
-Buy easy to stockpile items, like travel sized deodorant, soap, and body wash.
- Also remember to practice moderation. To much of a good thing CAN be bad. Especially if you're like me and don't have much room to begin with.
- Pick a time table that you'd like to have enough supplies for. Most people do 6 months - 1 year. Due to space restrictions ( hello, I live in a trailer!) I'm hoping to have enough or 3 months.
- Also if your stockpiles slowly begining to take over your home and your life. STOP BUYING! Only buy essentials that you don't have ( I.e. Eggs and milk) until you whittle down that stockpile a little.
- Never ever clear the shelves. Even if you have a bunch of like coupons. I follow the 50/50 rule. Leave 50% buy 50%. So there is plenty for other customers.
Miscellaneous tips:
Buy easy to store items. I.e Toilet paper, paper towels canned goods and toiletries. to start.
Here's some helpful coupons for you to start/fill your stockpile:
Listerine Mouth Wash , Trial size Free
Renyolds Aluminum foil, OVERAGE $.03
Leave your comments/questions/tips in the comments below! I wanna hear from you guys!
Also don't forget to check out the links above, you can get a lot of high value/freebie coupons from writing companies!

Hey guys
See I haven't died or anything. I'm just currently working two jobs. This blog's probably going on hold for a few days until I get things squared away with my jobs. I'll try to post a little here and there. But I can't do it all! Haha.

You can save $10 next shopping trip, or more!
I've done it, I'm sure you have to. You have your list and coupons in hand. It's all planned out in your head. And you still end up spending much more then you thought you would! How did that happen?!
First pit fall so many people, including my self fall into is not sticking to the list you made up. How can you curb this habit? Plan ahead, start a rough draft of your shopping list two or three days in advance. That sounds weird doesn't it? Keep a running list on your fridge or by your computer of things you need as you find that you need them. It helps trust me. Before you go shopping, go over your list one more time. Cross out things you don't need. Have 10 rolls of toilet paper? Even if you have a really good coupon do you really need 5 more? If you do decide to go for the good deal, do you have room for it? If your cabinets are busting at the seams as is you really don't. Things will get lost and not used before they expire!
My rule of thumb is the two aisle rule. Your shopping you see some product you think you need and pick it up right? Well I put these items in the basket in the front of the cart. Once I've gone two aisles away from where the product is I ask myself do I NEED this or do I WANT this. If you don't need it, then don't buy it. :) Also, don't just throw said item on the shelf anywhere, return it where it goes or hand it to the cashier when you go to check out. The store will appreciate this as will the employees!
These things really do add up. Impulse buys can cause havoc for the most prepared shopper. So think ahead!
Starting a Stockpile:
So I've been watching Extreme Couponing.....but really who hasn't? And they have such great stockpiles! Now, I'm not going to thrive for the 45 bottles of whatever and 80 bottles of shampoo stockpile, but it'd be nice to have a few extras, plus I want to be able to make a few bags of groceries up a month for my cousin and his roommate.
So I'm sending my uncle out after work to round me up a few Sunday papers this week, exspecially since those pepsico coupons will be in them this week.
Any tips or tricks out there for a stockpiling newbie?
